Charlie Chaplin's real name is sir Charles Spencer and he was an English silent film star. His life lasted between 1889 and 1977 and 75 of those years he was working as a silent film star. He became a household name after his alter ego "the tramp" was born and he is now considered one of the best actors of all time. He had a rough childhood living in the Victorian era and by the age of nine years old he had already been sent to the workhouse twice, even worse his mother was committed to a mental asylum. luckily his life got better and in 1914 he was working with keystone studios and in 1972 he received the honorary award for "the very big effect he has had in making moving pictures the art form of this century".
